Just a quick voicemail update from Fairbanks. The Crue is in Indiana. Following yesterday's heat, Ben got a a saline IV and hit the road again. Apparently he hasn't looked as good since day one. More of the same today: heat + Ben riding strong. That's good news after the rough patch he had a few days ago.
Less than 800 miles to go. He's almost there folks.
I hope to have more for you later.

Man what a trip. I can't believe what Ben is doing, but I sure do envision him doing it.
I had a chance to talk with Benny on the phone a few hours ago. I did my best to entice him to get to the finish asap so he could get back here and enjoy some civilized bike riding, beer drinking and backyard bonfiring. He is the only person I have ever heard say that he was looking forward to getting into West Virginia. It was in fact the climbing that he was looking forward to as the boredom of flat roads in the midwest sounded like they were wearing on him. On a different note the Italians believe that if a pigeon poops on you that it is good luck. With this in mind I believe that good luck will follow Btron to the finish because his dog Sage threw up on my floor about 20 minutes ago.
RAAM blog:
"Brazilian Claudio Clarindo and American Ben Popp are still engaging themselves in a tight battle.
8th and 9th on the road is going to be thrilling right to the end. We saw Robic and Wyss in a thrilling battle. This will be another thrilling battle.
In the past 24 hours, Ben Popp has clawed back 40 minutes on his rival. At time station 37, located in Sullivan, 2230 miles into the race, they were seperated by 1 hour and 20 minutes. Now, through Oxford, time station 40, 2408 miles into the race, they are only seperated by 31 minutes.
Keep watching this battle. I give the edge to Clarindo, but Popp is still riding well!"
